Find your glow at Shine Spa

No trip to Bali would be complete without experiencing a massage. Shine Spa for Sheraton is the place to relax, recharge and be pampered. The moment we entered the calming ambience of the reception area we were enveloped with a warm, comfortable atmosphere and we knew we were going to enjoy our massage treatment.

We were shown a list of treatments from revitalising body massage with creamy saffron, aromatic Swedish massage, coconut vanilla body scrub, chocolate honey body scrub, rose petal body scrub, traditional Balinese massage, water lily hydration or an aloe vera wrap.

This is truly a place to make the most of the moment and rehydrate after the Bali sun which can be quite harsh and drying on the complexion.  We do a lot of walking when away and my poor feet were dry and flaky and feeling quite tired so I decided instead of a couples treatment to go for a solo foot massage. Steve had recently been involved in a car accident and was still feeling quite stiff and sore in the neck and shoulder area so informed the therapist and it was suggested to have a full body massage.

Now time to relax. We were shown to a comfy lounge and as part of a welcome ritual were given some cooling towels and a refreshing welcome drink. The decor is clean, minimalist and peaceful. With dimmed lighting, soft music and a delicate aroma Shine is a great place to lull your mind into a state of rest.

We are taken to separate areas of Shine for our treatments. I am shown to the glassed area adjacent to the infinity pool where my therapist begins to revive my tired feet. I sit with my legs elevated, draped in warm towels. This is pure relaxation, gazing beyond the pool towards the ocean as my legs and feet are drinking up the oils as they are softly massaged with long, sweeping strokes and gentle touch.  This is a wonderful treatment to help release toxins and restore the body’s energy flow. Instead of making mental to do lists, thinking about Instagram updates and my other social media feeds I am feeling so relaxed and my mind clear. To quote Shine Spa for Sheraton, this is the most blissful journey my feet have taken me on.

Steve was shown to the changing room where he is provided disposable underwear, fresh robe and slippers. The change room has lockers to securely put his personal belongings while he is in the treatment room. They begin with a soothing foot wash before he is lulled in to a state of relaxation and revived from head to toe with all his tensions being released. His therapist uses synchronised movements, a mix of deep, slow motions, targeting his knotty shoulders and stiff neck alternating her thumbs, palms and knuckles to ensure all muscles are well massaged and any tension released. His treatment time seemed to go quickly and before I knew it he had showered and was joining me for a drink of warm ginger tea.

Our time at Shine Spa for Sheraton was extremely relaxing. It’s amazing what an hour chill time can do for your mind, body and soul. When we left we felt our mind and body had been enriched and not only were we tension free our minds were clear.

The spa is run by expertly  trained, friendly and knowledgeable therapists who are happy to advise on the spa’s products, packages and treatments. Signature treatments include Shine Massage, providing the body with physical and mental relaxation, Relax Together, a blissful experience for couples, Shine Hand, a treatment to sooth dry hands and reduce dark spots, Shine Feet, to help achieve smooth, supple skin and pretty feet, Shine Body, a revitalising body therapy based on marine gold to stimulate, enrich, protect and minimise signs of aging and Shine Facial, to defend against the environmental stresses and restore cellular function.

Shine offers romantic indulgence pamper packages to take a couple on a sensory journey in a candlelit treatment room. This starts with an oriental foot ritual followed by aromatherapy Swedish massage, coconut vanilla scrub, followed by application of tropical body lotion. Wine and fruit are served after the treatment concludes.  There are Mother/Daughter treatments of rose petal body scrub, Balinese massage and manicure, pedicure.

Massages from around the world are available each offering intuitive touch, healing energy and holistic well-being. The signature massage is gentle and calming Balinese massage. Therapists are trained to offer strong pressure with oriental massage, invigorating, deep tissue Swedish sports massage, calming Indian head massage and the healing power of warm stone massage.

These varieties of techniques are used for different treatments, a combination of acupressure, skin rolling and relaxing strokes for a calming effect. Strong pressure is to knead and wring tension and stress away using finger and thumb pressure working with percussion techniques to stimulate skin circulation. Indian head massage and reflexology brings deep relaxation to body and mind and deep thumb and palm pressure in long, sweeping movements flushes away tension in the neck and shoulders. The healing power of touch, soothing warmth and calming aromatherapies will leave you feeling relaxed, your mind clear and you’ll walk out feeling ready for anything.

Shine Spa formulate their own range of oils and personal care products in a variety of pleasant aromas and was World Luxury Spa Awards Winner in 2016.

There are many reasons to get a massage. It relieves stress, makes you feel rejuvenated, relaxed and balanced. A massage also increases metabolism and circulation, but best of all it makes you feel great.

Find your glow, brighten your mood, enjoy the moment, shine.
