Paris, France by Priyanko of The Constant Traveller

Paris – the word itself is magic. So what better place can there be to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your special someone other than this magical city? Which is exactly what I did one memorable day a couple of years ago. Here’s the best way to spend Valentine’s Day in one of the most romantic cities in the world.

Start your day with breakfast spent eating in the quiet environs of the Tuileries garden comme la Francaise before getting into the Louvre to look at more than just the Mona Lisa. You can easily spend a couple of hours here until it’s lunch time.

At this time, the Eiffel Tower has fewer tourist buses so you can expect to ride to the top in fairly quick time. Admire the great city from a bird’s eye view and stay on top (no pun intended!) for an hour or so before heading up to Montmartre. Stop by the Amelie cafe called Cafe des Deux Moulins for a bite and coffee and head up to Sacre Couer, one of the most beautiful churches in Paris.

Once the sun sets, walk in for another quick bite and enjoy the street performances before ending up at Moulin Rouge for the Feerie show to make it a truly unforgettable day out.

Agra, India by Chandresh of Family on the Wheels

Very few places on earth inspires the eternal bond of love, the way TAJ MAHAL defines it. Arguably, it will be difficult to pick between Eiffel tower and Taj Mahal that will get the crown.

Built in 1648 , by an Mughal emperor “ Shah Jahan “  in the memory of his beloved wife “ Mumtaz  Mahal “  , it’s an mausoleum where the king declared to be laid on his death along with her tomb .  Every Celebrity coming to India, make it and point to visit this place and being clicked right in front of it. Millions of lovers flock every year to make those sacred promises to stay together livelong in good or bad, up or down or whatever life throws to them “TOGETHER “.

We got married in 2010 and on our first Valentine day thereafter, I brought my better half on a surprise road trip (250 km from Capital of India, Delhi). Right in front of this iconic symbol of Love on a full moon night, I proposed her again and tears in her eyes conveyed the feeling while her voice tumbled due to overwhelming emotions.

How to reach :  Take an flight to Indira Gandhi International  airport , Delhi and further Cab with 4-5 hour drive . It’s closed on Friday.

How to book : You can pre-book entry tickets online on official website .

Best time to Visit : October to March is ideal time to visit this place as the weather is pleasant during winters and Valentine Day fall right in the bracket .

Rome, Italy by Angela of Rome Actually

There are many romantic things to do in Rome, but one that couples can’t miss is a walk around the river. It’s beautiful any time of the day, but for a spark of romance, an evening stroll is ideal. The night lights of the city and its famous landmarks flicker in the calm waters of the Tiber.

A great way to start this romantic walk is right after a visit to the fantastic Hadrian Mausoleum. From here, walk towards the scenic Tiberina island. You have the choice of crossing the river on Ponte Sant’Angelo bridge and take your walk along Lungotevere degli Altoviti, Lungotevere Sangallo towards Lungotevere de’ Cenci and the Jewish Quarter or stay on the same side of the Mausoleum and walk along the Lungotevere Gianicolense, Farnesina and Raffaello Sanzio toward Trastevere neighbourhood.

From either side, you will see the Tiberina island that you can reach through a bridge and where you can sit and relax with a drink, the perfect way and place to round off a romantic walk surrounded by history and beauty.

San Sebastian, Spain by Alya of Stingy Nomads

San Sebastian is a coastal city in Northern Spain, in the Basque Country region and it is one of the most romantic Spanish cities. It is located by the sea, surrounded by lush green mountains it has all you need for a romantic holiday; beautiful beaches, many outdoor activities, delicious food, great wine, cozy Old Town and a great holiday vibe – it’s a great place to relax, enjoy and discover. Some of the romantic activities in San Sebastian include; spending a day on a sailboat and visit several bays and beaches, watch sunset at La Concha beach, enjoy a stunning view of the city from Mount Igeldo, spend a day soaking and relaxing in one of the famous spas, go out for dinner to one of the restaurants and try the local speciality – delicious seafood and fish. For adventurous couples there are plenty of activities to keep them busy; paragliding above the beautiful beaches, riding a hot air balloon, hiking along the coast, cycling around the city, kayaking in the sea and more.  My husband and I visited San Sebastian as a part of our Camino del Norte walk it was a great stop on the way. We really enjoyed spending time here; swimming, chilling on the beach, watching sunset and sunrise, walking around the night city and stopping at every bar on the way trying local pintxos and wines. In San Sebastian any couple will find plenty of activities to make their holiday unforgettable.

Hoi Ann, Vietnam by Ben of Horizon Unknown

Hoi An is a small, ancient port in Vietnam. This southeast Asian tourist hotspot is also home to many romantic things to do, making it a perfect destination for a Valentine’s Day getaway.

From taking in a beautiful sunrise to strolling along the lit up ancient canal running through the tiny town, there’s something for every couple.

It requires a very early start, but rising before the sun, overlooking the golden sands and silhouettes of palm trees with a sky full of soft purples and pinks is a perfect way to start a romantic day in Hoi An. Taking in the unforgettable architecture of sights like the iconic Japanese Bridge and old merchant houses, it’s a great place to visit with a significant other. Ending the day with a beautiful and quiet view of the canal that runs through this preserved port town. Sitting on a quiet park bench overlooking the colourful lanterns swinging in the breeze and reflecting on the calm water.

Hoi An is a romantic destination in Vietnam and shouldn’t be overlooked if planning a Valentine’s Day getaway with your partner.

Vienna, Austria by Cazzy of Dream Big, Travel Far

There is nothing quite as romantic as learning to dance with your partner, and what better place to learn to Waltz than in the heart of Vienna itself? And why not do it on Valentine’s Day! Vienna is where the Viennese Waltz was born and you can take private waltz lessons with your partner, or in a group setting if you prefer.

My partner and I did this on Valentine’s Day in 2018 and it was one of the most romantic experiences we’ve had. We got to dance in a grand ballroom to wonderful music by Mozart, then finish the evening off with a romantic dinner for two in the city. Our dance teacher even recorded our final dance so we had a beautiful souvenir of the experience together.

Vienna has so much to offer for a romantic escape. It’s a city that oozes beauty and charm and the perfect place to take a break with your partner. And it doesn’t have to break the bank either, as we had a great time experiencing Vienna on a very tight budget.

Rapallo, Italy by Margherita of The Crowded Planet

Italy is full of romantic cities, but one of the best (in my opinion at least) is Rapallo, on the Italian Riviera. Rapallo is just half an hour from Genoa, and less than an hour from the Cinque Terre, making it also a great base for those who want to visit the famous colourful villages. I’ve visited with my husband several times, not just to enjoy the beach in summer but also to go hiking in the surrounding mountains and explore nearby villages like Santa Margherita and Portofino. Our favourite place near Rapallo is the Sanctuary of Montallegro, located in the mountains high above the city and easy to reach via cable car. It’s the departure point for many great hikes, and the views are just stunning – especially at sunset. To make matters even better, you’ll have no one to share the view with, since most people just stay on the coast!

Seogwipo, South Korea by Marie of Be Marie Korea

Over 5 years ago while doing my masters I traveled for 2 weeks to South Korea, this trip completely changed my life. In one of the cities I stayed in an Airbnb and got along great with the owner. He was so nice and showed me around the city for 5 days, it was love at first sight. Totally unexpected as both of us had a negative idea of love and relationships. After my trip I went back to England and we had a 2 year long distance relationship where we would see each other every 6 months in Korea or in England. Now 5 years later, married and living together we went on our honeymoon to the most romantic place in South Korea, namely Seogwipo in Jeju Island. It is called the Hawaii of Korea due to its stunning beaches, scenery and delicious food. Many newly married Korean couples travel to this island for their honeymoon inside their own country.

Vaduz, Liechtenstein by Danielle of Live in 10 Countries

There’s something really perfect and fairytale about the tiny European capital of Vaduz. It looks like it’s just stepped out of the pages of a storybook and never feels too rushed or cosmopolitan.

Couples will find heaps of things to do in Liechtenstein, it’s really great for that romantic weekend away. Start your day before it gets too hot in the princely vineyards, bearing in mind you can try the real thing at one of the city’s many intimate wine bars later by candlelight.

If getting lost is what you and your partner love, Liechtenstein Castle is the perfect spot, with nothing to mar the views and great picnicking opportunities. It’s a modest walk up the hillside to reach it.

You could hire a bike together and hop into the next country via a quirky local wooden bridge that’s just for cyclists. Or just stroll through the town reconnecting and treat yourself to a slap up meal to celebrate.

Mexico City, Mexico by Daniel of Layer Culture

I had never travelled to Latin America or Mexico before, and it all begun with me facing my fear of the big bad city. It’s true that the opposite of love is fear and without love, all that remains is fear. Many people question the safety in Mexico before they think about romance.

It was actually our cultural differences that brought us together. We visited Restaurante Arroyo, the largest Mexican restaurant in Mexico and when she called the mariachis over, the last of my fears seemed to fizzle away. She taught me that Mexico City is a place about love, family and food. Not the shady sinister place I had once imagined. So, if you are looking for a good time, don’t be afraid of visiting Mexico City as a location to woo your romantic partner.

Lisbon, Portugal by Iris of Mind of a Hitchhiker

A romantic city of all seasons, Lisbon is never a bad plan. In summer, you can enjoy watching the sunset from one of the many lively viewpoints (miradouro) in the center. In winter, you can cozy up with your love under a blanket as many of the buildings have no central heating. Lisbon is a great city for simple, but elevated romance without breaking the bank.

In the morning, drink a galão and eat some pasteis de nata at your neighborhood bakery. In the evening, prepare a platter of local cheeses and olives for your partner, and open a bottle of good and surprisingly cheap wine.

Lisbon has many places to stroll hand in hand, but one of the most impressive and least visited sites is the Aqueduto das Águas Livres (€3 entry p.p.). It’s an aqueduct that rewards you with beautiful vistas of the Tejo river and the Cristo Rei statue.

Sydney, Australia by Nitha of The Trailing Mom

Sydney has a lot of hidden gems perfect for romance and love. For me, Watsons Bay is one such place which can make any day romantic no matter what.

This quirky little place offers astounding views of the city skyline, ocean cliffs and stunning lighthouse.

Take a ferry ride to Watsons Bay from Sydney city and enjoy those sweeping views of Opera House and Harbor Bridge. Recently I and my husband went on a short trip to Watsons Bay.  From the cruise to amazing beaches, from hiking trails to scrumptious seafood, it was indeed an incredible romantic vacation to cherish.

Go for a hike at the South Head Trail taking in panoramic views of the ocean. Or bask in some sunshine with a bottle of wine overlooking the iconic Sydney Harbor Bridge and skyline. Go swimming in those amazing beaches or take up some stand-up paddling lessons as a couple.

There are plenty more romantic things to do in Watsons Bay. Beautiful location, crisp air and cuddles from loved one, what could be more romantic than that?

Rio de Janerio by David of Show Them The Globe

Rio is easily one of our favourite cities in the world and it’s a wonderful mix of beauty, feistiness, passion and spontaneity. The time we spent there was all the more special as it’s the city where we got engaged. We started our trip like any other: we spent days lounging by the pool under the backdrop of Corcovado, relaxed on the beautiful Ipanema Beach and explored the city. It was during our trip up Corcovado mountain to the famous Christ the Redeemer statue that everything changed! It was here, under the shadow of the incredible statue, that Dave got down on one knee and popped the question.

Luckily Elaine said yes and we had the most romantic few days enjoying Rio, popping bottles of champagne on Sugar Loaf Mountain, chilling on Copacabana and simply enjoying our special time in one of the worlds most passionate cities. Rio will forever hold a special place in our hearts and we can’t wait to return some day.

Bergen, Norway by Corinne of Reflections Enroute

When I think of romance, I want to be able to cuddle. What better place to get the most out of cuddling but wintery cold Bergen. After a nose-reddening wander about the old wooden buildings of traditional Bryggen, made famous in Hanseatic League times, and a lunch of fresh seafood from the Fish Market, it’s time to head up to see the sunset view over the city. To do this take the Floibanen funicular. It’s a short ride up. On top you can enjoy the views with a steaming cup of coffee or hot chocolate, then decide your route back into town. Most locals bring their bum sleds (plastic sleds just big enough for one bum) and slide all the way down. Others ski or hike down the mountain. Any way you do it, you’ll be ready for a fantastic dinner, maybe at the famous Cornelius Seafood Restaurant, where you have to catch a ferry to get there. There really is no better place to snuggle up with your loved one than Bergen and its coldest season of the year.
